We are in a bit of a holding pattern at the moment. We are waiting to hear from our local hospital as to when Sharon can get started with her treatment.
Once treatment begins, it will be valuable that my wife is one determined (read: stubborn) lady. That determination is illustrated by this photo. This is an 8 pound bass she caught in our lake in May using an ultralight rod and thin fishing line. Such a rig should handle fish of no more than half that size. It took Sharon about 25 minutes of hard work and patience to land the fish. She will bring these same characteristics to the treatment and recovery process. And, yes, this fish is far bigger than any fish I have caught in our lake, even though I fish 10 times as much as she does.
Yesterday, both Sharon and I talked on the phone with Mark Bertus, who works at AU with me. Mark is a guy that has faced long odds with colon cancer and is winning the battle anyway. His enthusiasm for living and thriving is infectious and I think he will be quite an inspiration to Sharon once her radiation and chemo begin. If interested, you can check out Mark's story at markscancer.blogspot.com . I am so impressed with what he has accomplished with the support and prayers of family and friends.
In the interest of fairness, let me note that Sharon is eating fairly well lately. I appreciate all the cajoling people have done on this issue! Sharon does not really appreciate it, but keep it up anyway because it's working : )

Robby is more than a little jealous of that fish. Dave's right -- bring that same determination to this new battle!
Love you, sis.
So, this is the fish she caught that made you mad!
